Interview: Blake Xavier from Blixboy Clothing!

1. What is Blixboy?

Blixboy is more than just a Clothing Line, more than just a Business. Blixboy is a life style, living positive and steadfast through any opposition pushing to accomplish every goal. From the foot ball term blitz we created a positive metaphor to put in action throughout our every day lives. Blixboy clothing not only gives a person great since of pride in the way look on the outside but starts with filling a person with dignity and pride from within, Build more than just fashion but a way of living.

2. Tell me about yourself and your position in Blixboy.

I’m a 24 year old inner city boy raised by my awesome grandmother Blondelle and aunt Lysa Wigfall. I have 6 sisters and 3 brothers (a huge family as you can see). Raised to be as upstanding, honestly, determined and self motivated as I can be. Raised with many morals and values, not just to say I have them but to put them into action in all that I can do. I set out to college in 06 out of state at Delaware University where I started Blixboy Clothing, becoming the President of my company.

3. I see that you have been developing Blixboy for 3 years which is not an easy feat. What inspires you and keeps you motivated?

I was always taught that nothing worth fighting for will be easy so I always keep that quotes with me at all times. A huge inspiration me is my aunt Lysa. This woman basically gave up a bright future for herself as a paralegal and most likely continuing on to law school to raised myself and my five other siblings. Just watching and appreciating her work ethic, her strength, her will power, her punctuality (which is superb by the way) you can ask anyone in my family “aunty is never late always early and even when she’s early its late to her. My aunt Lysa inspires me to really be there for my family not only financially but mentally, being someone they can depend on through any and everything. That’s what keeps me going. Also my team and their support has been so awesome they have had faith in me since they heard me speak of my vision. I want to salute them as well for fueling my inspiration thus far.

4. What is your opinion about the current state of the Black community? Do you think we are moving in a positive direction or is there major improvements that need to be made?

I really just would like to see more pride and unity in our black community I feel like we have came such a long way. We as black people are talented athletes, artists, designers, businessmen/women, city and state officials and now the president of the US. Their are still so many who don’t appreciate the fact that yes our schooling may cost us and our economy may constantly change but some 400 years ago we needed permission to learn to read and if we did it was only to work for someone else.

5. Many people say that their environment and upbringing has affected them profoundly in negative and positive ways. How has your environment and upbringing affected you?

I truly believe that my environment has taught me that I don’t have to be a negative product of my environment. I can make a positive impact through my decisions, to where I grew up, the places I shopped, the people I shook hands with on a daily basis that knew me personally or knew of me. I have witnessed the worst and cherished the best. I take those things with me everywhere I go to keep me focused on the bigger picture.

6. Success is defined as the gaining of fame or prosperity. What is success to you?

I think so many are in love with the FAME and the popularity not realizing that those things only last but for so long they may make you happy but do not bring joy. I think success is not measured by the amount of money or objects consumed but by the amount of people you effect. Making an positive impact on your city you grew up in the family, supporters, your true fans, and those who may not have known you at all, leaving a great legacy for all to look up to and honor. That is success.

7. What is your advice for young entrepreneurs like yourself?

I have only a few words for all the young entrepreneurs like yourself which is to keep striving, build your business of honesty, integrity, and what I like to call the “G” or will power to push though any opposition, accomplishing every goal you set.

8. What is the future of Blixboy?

We hope to impact not only my community or your community but influence the world through our persistence and of course our style.
